A menu of charcuterie, veal carpaccio and kale tempura, amongst other imaginative plates, complements the extensive wine list.
Louise Bourgeois’ ‘I Am Rouge’, a striking watercolour, gouache, and pencil work, is displayed for the first time here, framed by Brian Clarke's glass panels. It is accompanied by Bourgeois’ scarlet-hued hologram from 1998.
This one-of-a-kind edit forms the perfect canvas for a gallery of renowned wines by the glass.
Two works by Louise Bourgeois frame the space, while Trina McKillen’s ‘Composition #8’ is the room’s sole photographic piece. Ti-a Thuy Nguyen’s ‘Scarlet Mist’ and Jenny Holzer’s ‘Benghazi’ complete the collection.
Looking out from the organic curves of the ombre scarlet snug, the Red Room has the feel of a collector’s living room. Soft creams, blush pinks and pearl blues form a soothing palette, accented by the dramatic red works. Perfectly appointed nooks feature small ceramics and objects d’art that shimmer under the glow of antique pendants and jewel-like lamps.
The Red Room’s wine list, curated from The Connaught’s legendary cellars, offers the finest vintages by Coravin and innovative wine-inspired cocktails. These are perfectly paired with dishes like British cheeses and Gochuchang chicken oysters.
