Iván Argote: Mamarrachos

Mamarrachos presents a body of work that blurs the boundaries between painting, sculpture, drawing and architecture. The series traces its origins to Retouch (2008), a video in which Argote drew a sinuous spray-painted line across the protective glass covering two Mondrian paintings at the Centre Pompidou. In Mamarrachos, that gesture leaves the screen and becomes physical: intuitive lines enter and escape the canvas, unfolding into sculptural forms that challenge the distinction between image and object.
