A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Rooms Technician to join the Technical Services team at The Berkeley.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

As a Shift Rooms Technician you will be responsible for the maintenance of our rooms and suites ensuring that the highest standards are maintained at all times. You will be ensuring all furniture is intact, all electrical appliances are working and visually safe, and plumbing in bathroom is maintained. You will be also working closely with our Painter & Decorator and French polisher to ensure our rooms are up to the required standard and ready for our guests to enjoy. Other responsibilities include reporting any defects or health and safety issues to our Assistant Chief Engineer and assisting with other duties required by the business.

 

Main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the hotel in working towards the vision of being meticulously maintained.
  • Ensure all jobs reported are followed up to completion ensuring a high level of service.
  • Assisting the Shift Engineer as and when needed.
  • Detect and report any faults to the Office co-ordinator.
  • Ensure all plumbing in room is maintained and working correctly to a five-star standard.
  • Bring to the attention of the HOD’s any possible Health and Safety risks in the building.
  • Assist the guest with any requests they might have whilst staying in the hotel.
  • Ensuring all electrical appliances are visually safe and report any defects to the Front Office Team.
  • Working closely with the Painter & Decorator and French Polisher to ensure the general standard of the room is up to five-star standards.
  • Contribute in maintaining an excellent level of service in conjunction with the minimum requirement of the LQA and Forbes standards at all times.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual, who ideally has knowledge of the hospitality or travel and tourism industry, however this is not essential. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is a fast learner, adaptable and has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

We anticipate applicants will have worked in a similar role within a luxury hotel environment.
