History, still being written

The Royal Suite reflects Claridge's long-standing connection with royalty and as a host for moments of national celebration. Inspired by the festivities held at the hotel in 1953 during the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the two-bedroom Mayfair suite pays homage to a remarkable legacy.

Designed by Michelle Wu, interiors draw on the symbolism of the Coronation. A Buckingham Blue palette sets the tone, while the master bedroom takes inspiration from the Queen’s Coronation gown by Norman Hartnell. Hand-embroidered dressing-room doors recreate the four national flowers of the United Kingdom - rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock - with a single four-leaf clover as an ode to Hartnell’s original good-luck gesture. Throughout, layers of craftsmanship continue to unfold. From a bronze Baccarat chandelier dating from the 1880s to Gainsborough silk damask, woven by a Royal Warrant holder on a 1920s loom.

Yet this history is designed to be lived in. Generous reception spaces, an elegant dining room and a Gilbert & Sullivan grand piano create a gracious setting for family celebrations or milestone occasions. Even the coat of arms in the bedroom can be personalised, allowing the suite to welcome its guests in noble style. Rich in history, it offers guests the opportunity to become part of Claridge's legacy – a story still being written.
