London Fashion Week

All eyes on the catwalk

Outside, the city may be edging into autumn – but on the London Fashion Week catwalks, next year’s spring and summer trends will be in full swing. From 14-18 September the runways will be bustling with the best of British design and industry insiders will be celebrating couture craftsmanship in the Designer Showrooms.

Making its debut back in 1983, London stands alongside Paris, New York and Milan as one of the ‘big four’ fashion weeks. With over 250 designers regularly showing their collections, this is the chance for fashionistas to rub shoulders with industry insiders, as buyers scout out upcoming trends.

With a myriad of shows taking place across the week, there is plenty to look forward to - from spotting the stars of tomorrow at graduate shows to paying homage to household names. Highlights of past London Fashion Weeks have included a surprise appearance by the Queen at Richard Quinn, where she greeted emerging designers and of course, as always, the Burberry show.

London Fashion Week is so different from any of the others. Compared to the strictness in New York, London seems freer from commercial constraints. Truer to the process, to street style, to a sense of humour.
