We are looking for an experienced Buying & Ecommerce Assistant to join our growing retail team. Working across the group’s five hotels, to continue to grow and develop a cohesive luxury product offer reflecting each of the hotels aesthetic, location and guest. A multi-channel role, working across Ecommerce platforms and physical boutiques.

Main duties & responsibilities

In this role, you will support the Buyer & Head of Retail in the sourcing and development of product and support in the management of the Ecommerce platform. Working with a diverse range and supply base, you will gain broad experience across food, drink, fashion, home, beauty categories. 

You will be involved in the administrative support of product set up, managing the critical path, supplier liaison and handling all invoice and account queries. You must be a confident in using Microsoft Excel.

Main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Liaise with suppliers; managing product information database, photography, samples, PO management.
  • Manage and maintain product & supplier set up, ensuring all information is stored correctly in the system and is up to date.
  • Manage range plans, ensuring all products are captured on the range plan allowing full visibility of the correct ranges for each location. Ensuring there is exceptional data integrity applied across all documents.
  • Delivery schedule management; responsible for chasing stock as necessary
  • Food NPD: Checking all packaging artwork before printing - for spelling, grammar, best before, storage, weight, description accuracy and barcodes scan correctly. Working with Food Technologist as appropriate.
  • Work with the Buyer where appropriate to negotiate the best possible terms with suppliers i.e. margin, trade discounts, markdown support.
  • To analyse performance, making recommendations to the Buyer/Head of Retail i.e. to keep or discontinue within the business, in line with our category strategy. Propose where appropriate trading actions such as swaps, re-orders, RTVs. Weekly / monthly reporting.
  • Support in the management of the Ecom business; uploading product, photography etc. Experience of Shopify beneficial but not essential.
  • Support the buyer to achieve key KPI’s, i.e Margins, £ sales plan, sustainability goals
  • Carry out research, including Comp Shops, regarding new / emerging brands, market trends.
  • Put together seasonal product packs for communication to the rest of the business
  • Communicate effectively with local & international store teams, particularly with regard to new season launches and product training.

Entry Requirements

  • Previous experience in buying and/or merchandising, working in a head office. Luxury experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills. Highly numerate.
  • Ability to multi-task and strong organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Ecommerce experience
