National Portrait Gallery to celebrate British composers
Date: 27 Apr - 05 Dec 10
Event: Great British Composers: From Elgar to Ades
Location: National Portrait Gallery
Classical music lovers will soon be arranging trips to the National Portrait Gallery to see a new exhibition celebrating British contributions to the art form.
Great British Composers: From Elgar to Ades will open on 27th April and run until 5th December. After checking in to the five star Connaught hotel in London, guests can make the short journey to Trafalgar Square in the heart of the city to visit the gallery.
The new display will bring together over 30 photographs of a selection of renowned British composers. It will begin with Edward Elgar - who was linked with 19th century Romanticism - and move on to focus on the likes of Ralph Vaughan Williams, Harrison Birtwistle and Thomas Ades.
All of the pieces have been selected to represent the significant achievements that were made in classical music in Britain during the 20th century.
The display will coincide with this year's BBC Proms, which is set to get underway on April 22nd.
After visiting the National Portrait Gallery exhibition, return to your hotel for a drink at the Coburg Bar or a meal at Helene Darroze at the Connaught.
